Facebook Friday App Review – North Social Donate

Print Friendly

North Social’s “Donate” app is a template driven app and includes a content management system that allows users to upload images, links and text to create a message without writing code. This content management system is incredibly easy to use. Once you’re signed in as an administrator you simply click “Edit Tab Settings” and work through the control panel from top to bottom.

For me, one of the strongest features of this app is the ability to customise the content that goes onto a user’s wall when they click the “Share” button on your “Donate” tab. This feature lives in the “Share Settings” portion of the control panel and lets you add a title, thumbnail image and description. It’s great for helping you virally spread word on your cause/campaign/issue.

One of my only gripes with this app is that it doesn’t allow users to make donations within the confines of Facebook itself. Instead, the app must link to a web page you’ve set up to receive secure donations.

Minor gripe aside though, it’s a great app. It really does help charities/fundraisers leverage the power of Facebook for their cause/campaign/issue, especially when it’s combined with “Volunteer”, one of North Social’s other apps that lets people sign up for volunteer work via Facebook.

Autumn 2012 Social Media Workshops are Now Booking. Brand New workshops on Google+ and Pinterest, plus new Expert Workshops on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook Pages. See the full timetable and Book Now!
