Facebook Friday App Review – North Social Volunteer

Print Friendly

North Social’s “Volunteer” app allows people to sign up for volunteer work at your organisation, via your Facebook page.

Like other North Social apps it’s a template driven CMS based affair, meaning it’s extremely customisable and super easy to use.

You can upload landing, main and thank you images and you can also customise share settings so you have full control over what goes onto peoples walls when they click the “Share” button on your “Volunteer” tab. This is great for virally growing the numbers of people signing up to your volunteer scheme.

One of my favourite features of this app is the fan-gating facility, which allows you to determine whether or not users are required to like your page before using the app. If you want to increase your page “likes” it’s a good idea to have your fan-gate switched on.

Another feature of this app I really like is the way in which it utilises North Contact (North Social’s reengagement and CRM tool) to generate the form, which gathers all the relevant information from prospective volunteers. Within the admin control panel of the “Volunteer” app there’s a section that allows you to paste form code that’s been previously generated with the North Contact tool, so you don’t actually have to do any form coding.

All-in-all “Volunteer” is a great app. It’s particarly useful for charities, especially when used in conjunction with “Donate”, one of North Social’s other apps that lets people make charitable donations via Facebook.
