Twitter Tool Tuesday – The Archivist

The Archivist is free service that enables you to keep a record of tweet data. You can start an archive for virtually any term. Within seconds of entering a term and hitting the ‘start analysis’ button, you’ll be presented with a series of key twittersphere based facts and figures relating to that term. These facts and figures include, ‘top users’ (people have most frequently tweeted or retweeted the term), ‘top words’ (words most commonly used in tweets containing the term), ‘source’ (Twitter clients used by people who’ve included the term in their tweets) and ‘top URL’s (URL’s most frequently used by people who’ve included the term in their tweets). The service also analyses tweets vs. retweets and tweet volume over time.

For every stat there’s a pretty visualisation so everything is easy to digest. Plus, each saved archive has a permalink so you can link to them from other sites. From a marketing perspective it’s a wonderful way to look up information on your competitors.
