Twitter Tool Tuesday – True Twit

Print Friendly

True Twit is a validation service for Twitter that helps users establish whether or not their followers are humans or automated bots out to spam them.

It comes in two versions, premium and basic. The basic version sends out a DM to anyone who follows you (you can control what it says) asking them to follow a link to a page where they have to enter a captcha. The premium version carries out an in-depth automated analysis of your followers and their tweets and cost $20 dollars per year. Once the tool has finished doing its thing, you can automatically follow anyone it’s validated.

True Twit also serves as somewhat of a follower management tool. Within the interface you can view when a DM message was sent and whether the profile was validated. There’s also follow and un-follow functionality.

In principal True Twit is a good tool for helping you build relationships and have conversations via Twitter; however it does have some drawbacks. The validation DM’s could be construed as spam, which could end up having an adverse affect on your follower numbers. Also it won’t capture the “bots” that occasionally morph into humans to verify their accounts.
