Twitter Tool Tuesday – Twitarea

Print Friendly

Twitarea is a browser plug-in that lets users insert and share local place information when tweeting.

It plants an “insert place” button under the Twitter text box, which when clicked, launches a mini local search tool. Once the tool has finished searching and browsing local listings, clicking the “tweet this” button next to the place you’re looking for automatically creates a tweet containing the place name along with a unique and short URL link. This links to a place page in containing contact info, map location and other user’s votes/comments.

This tool is a great way for local businesses using Twitter to reach out to their followers and drive footfall. It should only grow in popularity as Twitter gains more recognition as a local search tool.
