Twitter Tussle is a free, easy to use  tool that lets you to see what’s popular on Twitter.

You simply enter two words, including usernames, hasgtags, phrases or any other keywords an hit the tussle button.

You then see an animation of two birds fighting one another which ends with one bird laid on its back (symbolising the least popular term) and the other bird jumping for joy (symbolising the most popular term).

The popularity of a term is determined according to number of tweets per minute, so the more times a term is mentioned in a minute, the more popular it is.

It’s real-time nature makes it a good tool for gauging what’s hot and what’s not at any given time, which can be an important factor to consider when planning you twitter strategy.
